changes part one(maybe)

This week I feel like we didn't do much. we started ramadan, so we’ve been doing that. trying to navigate going through our first ramadan in this house, while also trying to break fast with my mom. oh but I did say I will try to write about our house more because that’s mostly what I have been thinking about lately, among other things.

I wrote about the kitchen renovation recently. so back to our living room, the changes that we made were just to make everything new or more like renew them. I’ll start with the entrance.

I’ve said it a few times or a lot of times that I really like that this house has an entrance. We mostly changed everything here. Replastered the wall, it was a weird rough texture. maybe in hindsight we could have chosen a different flooring for the entrance since then it will be a bit more obvious it is the entrance but I like the same flooring and it makes everything so much easier to clean. one thing I wish we did keep(but not possible since they are in a really bad condition are the partition and the wall/door trim. We did ask to keep the front door trims because those were still ok. The ceiling had a ceiling light with those glass stains going on so we took that out. We covered up those “ice cubes“ by the entrance.

We maintained the design of the French doors and painted them green. I am also excited at the prospect of painting it a different colour when the time comes. We added hooks and a tall mirror and a bench for putting on shoes. I am hoping to add maybe a wall shelf or even a small cabinet by the storage door to replace the wall hanging there. I think it will be more organised to have a cabinet and also kind of like a separator, just like how it is like before.

From the entrance, we have the living area. It’s not so bad but a lot of things were falling apart and we have to do rewiring. We changed the floor. Took out the ceiling lights. Changed the windows to a clear one so we can get more light in. The living area isn’t that big and it is where we gather, eat and also work so we needed to make that work for us. But we saw how cosy it could be even when it was still not renovated yet.

Like I’ve mentioned before, we did have an interior designer helping us with some parts of the renovation. They helped when we were choosing tiles for the living area, bathroom areas. They helped with our IKEA kitchen but mostly we just tell them what we have in mind and they helped us render it. And arranged the installation. We mostly worked directly with the contractors. It took a while but we got there.

The Pinterest board for the house. Lots of green and pink :)

The main thing that was the main focus was for the storage for our books and games and also to make the house as kid friendly as possible. Other than that I was inspired by all the colourful painted doors and windows. I was definitely really into green doors and kitchens and just decided that I wanted a pink sofa. I am still thinking of colours for the walls. Was thinking it would be nice to paint the washrooms another colour. Speaking of washrooms, that’s another renovation that was quite major. I’ll try to write about it soon.

till next time, m
